Welcome!

As children we learned sharing was good. So I have decided to do just that. I am a homeschool mom of two. My daughter will be in the 6th grade and my son will be entering kindergarten. I have been a Bible class teacher for the little ones for almost 15 years. I love to be creative and over the years have collected many ideas which I have decided to share with you. But you may be wondering why I called my creative blog "theupbox". Well, when my mother is looking for something she always asks herself, "where is it...hmmm...I put it up, but where?" So for one special occasion a few months ago, my brother made my mother an "UP" box for her gift. Yes, it was just a plain cardboard box with "UP" written on the side with a marker. Not overly creative decorating on the box but I certainly give him an -A- for the idea. So now you may look through my creative "UP" box! If you like my ideas tell your friends ...they're free! However if you'd like to show your support, just click on an advertisement. Thanks!

theupbox

We recently got back from a long trip.  Of course just sitting there for 13 some odd hours I had plenty of time to be creative.  So on our way back I thought of an idea for my daughter for our next field trip.  The idea was actually from my husband and son playing one of their favorite games..."Copy Cat."  My son loves to yell out "copy cat" and my husband then replies, "Ditto Dog,"  "Repeating Parrot" or "Recap Rabbit!"

I thought this was a great idea to apply to our daughters school work.  On a field trip she will play "Copy Cat" by copying down facts she reads along the way.  Then we will play "Ditto Dog" where I will give her a word or phrase that means the same as the facts she copied down.  "Repeating Parrot" will simply be us later repeating the main facts.  Last but not least, "Recap Rabbit" will be like an end of the Unit review from several trips.  So for your summer vacations or field trips keep this little fun idea in mind!
